Visitors to the Mold Food & Drink Festival on 22-23 September will have the chance to watch bread-making demonstrations from a local artisan baker.
The demonstrations will take place in the Business Enterprise Zone which is a new addition to the Festival this year.? New businesses in the food and drink sector that have set up in Flintshire or Denbighshire during the past 12 months have been invited to showcase their products or services at this year?s event to an audience of thousands.
Mold based business, cibo@st.david?swalk, is one such business.? Owner, Ian Purcell, set up the coffee bar cum bistro in January this year and serves a range of traditional and travel-inspired dishes using locally sourced produce.? The business is one of the stops on the new Festival Restaurant Trail which has also been organised by the Mold Food & Drink Festival.
Ian is passionate about producing quality, handbaked bread for his customers to enjoy at Cibo and he bakes a variety of loaves from fresh every including ciabatta, foccacia, and traditional white and wholemeal bread. ?He says ?I am really looking forward to attending the Festival and having the opportunity to show people how, with a bit of practice, it is relatively simple to make delicious, fresh bread.??
He adds, ?I plan to have ?bake your own? kits containing all the ingredients to give people to take away and have a go at home.? I?ve not done something in this environment before and sometimes bread-making can be a little unpredictable depending on atmospheric conditions, but I?m looking forward to the challenge and hope visitors will enjoy the demonstrations.?
A new Ruthin based business, Artisan Foods, will be bringing a selection of its product range including confectionery, savoury foods, honey and preserves .
Festival chairman, John Les Tomos says ?With the state of the current economic climate, we wanted to offer new food-related businesses a chance to promote what they do at this year?s Festival.? The response has been very positive.? There are still a few spaces available but I would urge anyone who is interested to get in touch with us as soon as possible.?
